I used to believe that gray did not suit me. Although I still consider myself a brown/beige girly girl (check out my sweater collection), I am beginning to appreciate gray. Most of my pieces are geared towards casual gray clothing ideas, but they can be dressed up if necessary.

For instance, consider these pants. I have previously discussed the Everlane Way High Droop Pants (I wrote a whole post about them here). I was thrilled when I learned about the wool version and eagerly tried them out in gray, instead of the brown kilts. These pants are just as great as the drape version, and the subtle herringbone pattern is

exactly what I was looking for. These pants are just as great as the drape version, and the subtle herringbone pattern is exactly what I was looking for. The fit is perfect, as expected. They are perfect for transitioning from day to night or from work to weekend. I have worn them in various ways, but this particular look that I am sharing today is my favorite.

Casual Gray Clothing Ideas

For work
When you think of wool pants, you most likely associate them with work. I know, I know, TikTok girls have always thought of pants as super casual. But I think wool pants have some super classic and traditional qualities. These wide-legged pants are so stylish and can be worn in so many different ways. At work, I love pairing them with this cashmere undershirt and my oversized blazer jacket. I’m also feeling a pair of heels – I hardly wear them anymore. I think they just completed the whole “I’m going to work” idea.

I’d also wear these nine-minute pants with white buttons. It’s definitely more of a classic business, but I think there’s something chic and cool about it now. I’d pair it with this belt and maybe some Louboutins. If in doubt, there’s nothing more classic than a crew neck cashmere sweater.

Weekend.
Now you may be thinking that these pants don’t fit as part of some casual gray outfit ideas. But they definitely can. The easiest way to transform these pants into “weekend” pants is to swap shoes. Obviously, we wear sneakers on the weekends. I’ve been living in these houses in DSW. Next, I’m keeping it tonal and wearing this gray sweater. Or, if we’re really casual, pair it with a sweatshirt. Yes, it really is that simple!

Do you like gray? Or do you prefer a different neutral?
